The Lost Garden of Eve...

Heylo everyone. I'm here with a post that is very special to me. I've been in love with mixed media ever since I started crafting. But I always held off attempting it as I wanted it to be special - conceptually. I'm glad I did that, because I'm really proud of what I ended up creating.

My mixed media project is also a part of a few important challenges that I'm participating in; and hence the colour scheme.

I've been a fan of Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays ever since I watched my first mixed media project Youtube video by Arlene. Her video is also a reason I was inspired to take up crafting and re-ignite my passion for handmade articles.

For this challenge, we were to use specific colours from the following graphic:

Since I did not have the exact same colours, I got inspired by them to create teal and turquoise-like colours from the Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays that I already had. At the end of the post, you can see a list of Lindy's sprays that I've used.

Challenge #2: More than Words

Word Inspiration - SPECIAL
Creative Challenge - something OLD, something NEW, something BORROWED or something BLUE

I was inspired by the word 'Special' in the way that I ended up creating my first serious mixed media canvas attempt and it's always going to be special to me (as already explained).

Something OLD - the canvas that I made this project on, I had purchased many years ago (initially to paint on it - since I paint as a hobby) but I never got around to using it. I just stored it thinking I would create something really unique on it.

Something NEW - some of the chipboard pieces and certain Lindy's sprays used here are from my most recent craft purchase.

Something BLUE - my background has a hint of blue here and there (along with turquoise) and some of the flowers I've used are blue in colour.

Something BORROWED - the Tim Holtz miniature bottle is actually borrowed from my niece :p who in turn had got them for her Harry Potter school project.

I hope you guys like what I created :).

Thanks for dropping by and I appreciate your feedback :).

Life is too Short to Wait... Mixed media wall decor

Hie guys! A few days ago I was contacted by Itsy Bitsy India and was asked if I would like to use their in-house brand Little Birdie's products (stencils, recently launched Colour Splash sprays, etc) in my creations. Needless to say that I said YES :d!!!

So I received the following things: 2 colour splash sprays - Black Currant and Tangerine, 1 stencil, 1 bottle of silicon glue, a pack of cream-coloured lace, and a few coloured and white cardstocks.

And...

This is what I came up with :)! A mixed media project! I've kept this project purely Itsy Bitsy-esque, hardly using any non-Itsy Bitsy products - right from flowers to stamps to cardstocks (to the stencils and sprays ofcourse). The central focus for the background is on the railing water droplet effect, and that's how I've stenciled all the different designs - in ascending heights. Same goes for my sprays in different directions.

Since there are so many amazing features of the products that I received, I'd like to highlight some of the things separately as follows:

1.) Colour sprays: I love how vibrant these sprays are, and when you use them in your mixed media projects, you get varying degrees of effect in colours through water sprays: from strongest to lightest. In various places, I also achieved a more deeper plum colour when my Tangerine spray got mixed with my Black Currant spray. I think that's pretty kewl!
2.) Silicon glue: OMG! If you are as fussy as I am when it comes to tackling the hassle of a glue gun, Itsy Bitsy's silicon glue is your answer. It is stronger and quicker (in drying) than your average craft glue, and more flexible than your glue gun. So while it dries faster, it gives you the option of adjusting your embellies to your liking without having to worry about it getting stuck to the project as soon as the glue gun hits it.
3.) Stencils: they're super beautiful! The stencil that I received had 4 different designs in it and that increases my options of getting more designs out of one stencil in various permutations and combinations! I also love the fact that every design stands out individually and can be used alone to give an elegant and simple look to any project.

Hope you guys like what I created and I would love to see some feedback from you :).

Acorn Mouse... Craft Your Passion Challenge No. 334

Heyloo everyone. This week I'm back with my 2nd DT post for Craft Your Passion and I feel good! Coz I tried a really fun image and card this week. And I'm so happy with the outcome.

Our sponsor this week is Digital Delights by Louby Loo and the image that I've used here is called 'Acorn Mouse' and can be found here.

I've gone with an Autumn theme for this image. Although that wasn't my intention at first, but as always, once I started making the card, it inadvertently exhibited autumn colours. So I just went ahead with it :D.

Eden Blossoms... Inspiration Destination Challenge No. 104

Last week for Inspiration Destination Challenge No. 104, I made a cover for my planner cum diary. The sponsor was Polkadoodles and the image I used was Eden Blossoms from their Eden Collection. The same can be found here.

This time, I tried using my watercolour pencils on Vellum and I think it was pretty ok. I embellished the image with a lot of stamped and fussy cut flowers and leaves.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving some feedback :).

Heyloo everyone. This week I have a special card to share. One that I made for my mom's birthday. It's also a part of the latest challenge over at Inspiration Destination blog (Challenge #102). The image that I've used here is the Fedora digi stamp provided by our sponsor this week Rick St. Dennis.  I just LOVE his digi stamps. And I completely love this one!!! So elegant and beautiful! Had so much fun colouring the image with my Spectrum Aqua markers.

It's 'Planner' Time...!

Heyloo. I'm so excited to share this week's DT project for Inspiration Destination Challenge #98. I've never worked with cutting files, so I was quite enthusiastic this time; with our sponsor being The Cutting Cafe

My project for this week is the 2016 Planner which you can find here. Oh they've got fab projects and cutting files! Absolutely in love with their planners! And I'm happy the way mine turned out.

(Pics best viewed in full screen.)

There are many different tabs and planner pages (which come with the planner pack) like contacts, calendar, months, dates and space for making notes, to-do lists, blank pages, notes, shopping lists, weekly menu/dinner and so much more.

I've added a kewt pen holder to keep a pen handy at all times. On the inside, I've added a vellum pocket to provide a translucent cover for storing various loose things in it, for easier visibility.

Thank you for stopping by and I would love to hear what you think about my project.

Spring Bouquet... Inspiration Destination #97

Heyloo! I'm back with a new and exciting DT project for Inspiration Destination Challenge #97

This week, I've worked on Vellum! I love Vellum! Ever since my jewellery designing days when we had to design on it! I always loved the translucency and the classy feel it possessed. I used to print all colourful designs and stuff on it for fun (always intuitively wanting to do something more with it but back then, I did not know anything about crafting).

So imagine my delight when I finally knew how I could put my vellum sheets to not just good, but fantastic use!

So without further ado, I'll get on with my yummy project for this week, I love flowers and I love colours. My stamp for this week is Spring Bouquet by Just Inklined. And instead of using such a beautiful stamp on a card, I wanted to lend it a bit more personality. I present to you my floral home decor which can be put up as a wall hanging or a table decor.

(Pics best viewed in full screen.)

It was so much fun colouring on vellum with my Spectrum Aqua markers (I just love these! colouring with them is just so much fun), albeit I should tell you that colouring on vellum with water colours requires a lot of efforts than colouring on a cardstock. But it was totally worth it! Especially with the raised and a little wrinkly effect that it lent to my project. To contrast that, I've added a circular layer of crackle glaze between the two pearl lines and coloured it brown.

Hope you liked my project and I would love it if you could leave some feedback and let me know how I've done.

Our sponsor for this week's challenge on Inspiration Destination is Just Inklined. Hop on over to the challenge blog to check out what fabulous projects the DT has churned out this week.

Summer Love... Kidz Daisy - Inspiration Destination #95

Hello everyone. First of all, a good news. I'm so happy to share with you that I am one of the DT members at a fabulous blog called Inspiration Destination Challenge Blog. It's a wonderful blog with a very talented DT group. I'm so honoured to be a part of this amazing 'Dream Team'.

This is my very first DT project and blog post for Challenge No. 95: Always Anything Goes. Our wonderful sponsor for this week is:

The image that I worked with for this challenge is: Bug Kidz Daisy, which you can find here.

The moment I saw this image, I knew I wanted to make a colourful, vibrant and fun card. The image is so chirpy and innocent that I knew it had to be filled with colours. This is also the first time I have used my Spectrum Noir Aqua markers (colours from Primary and Nature sets used) and I completely loved how the colouring turned out. I've distressed the edges of the base green panel on which my digi image is stuck to give it a nice raw effect to break the monotony of 'kewtness'. I've carried the same effect for my prime sentiment (Something Special for you) to balance the look.

I've colour co-ordinated the background with the stamp colours and added fun elements and sentiments to spruce up the card and lend a cohesiveness. I'm completely in love with these colours.

(Pics best viewed in full screen.)

A close up look of my coloured image.

I hope you liked my card and would love it if you could leave your feedback below.

'Glorious' Mini Album

Finally getting a chance to enter for Lulupu's challenges. So here is my first ever entry :).

My 'Glorious' themed mini album is 4x3 inches in size (pretty miniature, I know! I love creating miniatures!). It hosts 5 pages, with flaps or fussy cut pockets or tags or with certain surprise features (that you can get to see in the video at the end of this post).

(Pictures best viewed in Full Screen.)

The cover is heavily decorated in a very ornate and dreamy way. Loads of flowers and paraphernalia, accentuated by pearl trims, shiny/textured Prima brad to balance the design and colours.

I've used papers that are heavy on the design aspect and contrasted that with subtle embellishments. For the spine, I glossy accented the word 'Glorious' and to give it a raised effect, stuck it on multiple cardstocks and design papers. To highlight the spine's exclusivity, I used glitter glue on all 4 sides.

For the back, I've used different strips of pattern papers and tried to elevate the back in a subtle way, instead of giving it a plain Jane look.

For the closure, I've used a metal chain, secured it with Prima brad, and added some kewtness with an Eiffel Tower charm.

Because the album is of a really small size, and because the cover is so heavily embellished for its size, I have used intricately designed papers (that provide style on their own) and contrasted them with a tad simplicity w.r.t. embellishing them. I've added a magnetised foldable tab that gives you 4 sides to stick pictures. All the pages have contrasting pearls/rhinestones at the corners. Some have lace or flowers or other embellishments. There's a lot of stamping on some of the pages and flaps.

Here you can see fussy cut flowers that have been made into a pocket for keeping tags and pictures.

For a quick run-through of my album, you can watch the video below.

Multi-way wall decor for Valentine's Day

So my latest project is for Valentine's Day. Bold colours, bold flowers, bold theme. It's a multi-way wall hanging that I designed but later on I thought that it could be used as a table decor as well, and that is so kewl. Multiple ways of displaying one decor.

So my base is mdf sheets and I decoupaged it, yet again, lol, to provide some texture. I coloured it, stamped on it, embellished it with flowers, chipboard pieces, letters, frames and what not. I made a pocket tag for the top black hanging, to write a message or stick a kewt lil photo. Hope you guys like it.

I really love the way this one looks on a table.
